In the winter of 2002 I took a trip alone to Bali. During my two weeks or so there, I spent a few days on a small island named Lembongan, about a thirty minute boat ride from the island of Bali. The main businesses on that island are seaweed farming and feeding and housing the small number of surfers who are brave (or foolish) enough to test their skills on the unfriendly Lembongan beaches. The famous surf spots there have nicknames like Shipwreck and Lacerations.
I rented a small bungalow with one room overlooking the beach. I spent a lot of my time on Lembongan in that room, playing the guitar and admiring the beauty of the ocean. This tune was inspired by that spectacular vista, and the lonliness of having noone to share that beauty with.
